The City of Smyrna Fire Rescue Department has four areas of emphasis and expertise:

Emergency Services | Training | Bureau of Fire Prevention | Emergency Management

Each day, the Smyrna Fire Department excels at meeting needs and answering calls, never failing to treat each citizen with consideration; to work quickly, effectively, skillfully and safely; regarding everyone as a customer.

The City of Smyrna Fire Rescue Department continues to maintain a fire insurance rating of “Class 3,” one the best in Georgia.  Fire stations are strategically located, ensuring excellent response times.

Paramedic fire engines provide advanced life support including drugs, airway intubation and electrical defibrillation to heart attack victims. All City of Smyrna Fire and Rescue vehicles are equipped with hydraulic rescue systems, known as the “Jaws of Life,” and flood lighting systems.

The Emergency Management Division of the Fire Department provides warning of imminent severe weather through a siren system and is responsible for all emergency planning, emergency management and subsequent paperwork.

Education programs for children, the city’s strong fire code, well-trained fire fighters, and rapid response times help the Fire Rescue Department meet and exceed the highest standards, daily.

During 2006, the Fire Department answered more than 4,799 calls while continuing to uphold excellent response times. The response time in 2006 was 3 minutes 29 seconds.
